Ortec Finance was delighted to be a part of the RiskMinds Insurance 2019 event. The event took place on 11-13 March in Amsterdam. RiskMinds Insurance is the world’s leading conference for risk managers within the insurance industry and this year it celebrated its 10 years anniversary. During the 3 day event, 50 global CROs, more than 65 speakers and over 200 senior attendees discussed the future of risks in the insurance markets.

Tessa Kuijl, Senior Lead Consultant at Ortec Finance, was a keynote speaker at the event. She explained how sustainable shareholder value can be created by managing prospective economic capital generation.

Deriving actionable insights about the drivers of sustainable Economic Capital Generation is essential for any successful business. The fact that an insurers ability to generate economic capital receives more scrutiny from different stakeholders makes these insights even more important. Arguably, it is already a common practice to attribute the annual realized capital in hindsight (ex-post) to various businesses and market developments. However, to manage your future economic capital generation, it is imperative to incorporate this perspective in ALM and economic capital projections.

What are the main drivers of long-term sustainable economic capital generation? What are the main risks and factors that diminish your ability to generate (free) economic capital going forward? During this presentation, the benefits of forward-looking economic capital attribution in ALM analysis that captures enterprise wide risks and external threats have been addressed.  If you would like to know more about Tessa's presentation, please click here.
