Who are you?

Are you the colleague who:

  • Has a bachelor degree in Computer Science or a similar direction;
  • Is analytic, accurate, pro-active, independent and result-oriented;
  • Feels responsible for the database stack and associated solutions;
  • Has 5 to 10 years work experience as an Oracle DBA;
  • Has extensive knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Data Guard, Advanced Compression and Advanced Security;
  • Is a real team player.

In addition to managing Oracle databases, Ortec Finance brings you into contact with patch automation, Oracle WebLogic / Fusion MiddleWare, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Puppet, Docker and Microsoft SQL Server databases, PostgreSQL. Experience with these products is a plus, as is experience with Public Cloud services from Azure and/or AWS.

What will you do as Oracle DBA?

Ortec Finance develops and hosts applications for pension funds, asset managers, banks, housing associations and municipalities to help them in financial decision-making. We sell and support these solutions around the globe. Together with your colleagues from the Platform team, you are responsible for the rapidly growing platform services of Ortec Finance. You manage the Oracle databases and provide our business and development teams with database support and advice.

The platform services team is part of the Operations department, which consists of twenty IT specialists and engineers who are the link between the technology and the stable and reliable functioning of the applications. The platform team is a small autonomous multifunctional team that currently consists of four experienced specialists in the field of Linux, Oracle rdbms, MSSQL, Weblogic and Puppet. The team works according to agile scrum methodology in sprints of two weeks. Experience with this method is therefore a big plus.

You work with many different (cloud) techniques to offer the demanding customers of Ortec Finance the best in terms of performance, continuity and security. Your activities and responsibilities include:

  • Install, manage and monitor Oracle databases;
  • Administration of Oracle Enterprise Manager;
  • Backup and restore with RMAN;
  • Disaster recovery with Data Guard;
  • Performance tuning;
  • Manage and link with hosted web applications;
  • Facilitating test environments for Business and Development departments;
  • Advice to business and development departments regarding database matters;
  • Scripting (bash shell).

Maintenance on our around the globe systems can take place outside regular office hours. Because of that you also will have 24/7 support shifts once every six or seven weeks.
