Ortec Finance’s Senior Climate Specialist, Bronwyn Claire has contributed to Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership’s (CISL) - Investing in Tomorrow: A Guide to Building Climate-Resilient Investment Portfolios.
The guide, developed in response to the growing need for investors to integrate physical climate risks into their financial decision-making, highlights the significant impact that early decisions made in the investment process can have on later stages and opportunities.
It emphasizes the importance of addressing physical climate risks from the outset and provides a unique perspective on how to manage physical risks at each stage of the investment process for listed equity and debt portfolios, using existing tools and strategies in the market.
Dr. Bronwyn Claire, Senior Climate Specialist in the Climate Scenarios & Sustainability team commented: “It is encouraging to see the investment community, particularly insurers, placing greater focus on the systemic nature of physical climate risks. Together with my industry colleagues at CISL, we hope this guide will specifically support financial institutions in addressing this critical issue at the asset allocation level by illustrating how physical climate risks impact both short- and long-term economic forecasts and returns.
It also helps them take an active role in engaging with portfolio companies on adaptation and resilience. These steps will be crucial in ensuring the resilience of investment portfolios, enhancing long-term value, mitigating climate risks, and driving sustainable growth.”
Dr Bronwyn Claire is a fellow of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and plays a key role in the ongoing research and innovation of Ortec Finance’s ClimateMAPS – climate scenario analysis solution.
