What does a Market Researcher’s day look like?

You start your week with planning. Your contribution to the weekly team stand-up could be:

  • “This week I’ll be finishing the summarizing PowerBI dashboard for the client satisfaction survey.
  • In 2 days, we’ll close the awareness survey if our external panel supplier continues to redirect well-screened candidates at the same pace.
  • I am also preparing for a kick-off meeting next week on how we can automate reporting on industry trends through our market intelligence tool, in addition to our existing automated competitor news monitor.”

PowerBI reporting proves difficult, but with the help of colleagues, you get it done. You had to turn down a request for an unplanned ad hoc market survey; your current awareness results reporting took priority over this request. You were, however, able to advise them on an alternative solution.

What’s your team?

You are part of the Marketing Communication team (7), reporting to the Manager Marketing Communication. Together with the Digital Marketing team (7), Marketing is part of Commerce that includes Sales as well. The team is diverse & international in background & work location, is very cooperative and highly motivated to be commercially successful. You partially work from home; some meetings are via TEAMS with colleagues in our offices outside the Netherlands. Some of your meetings are in-person in our Rotterdam or Amsterdam office.

Who are you?

You prefer facts over impressions, you like to measure buyer journey elements, you feel confident in configuring market research tooling and other research or intelligence tools. You enjoy automating standard processes and testing and launching new commercial intel initiatives with colleagues or external vendors with whom you have not worked before.

You recognize yourself in the following:

  • Self-motivated and independent
  • Structured and with a very keen eye for detail
  • Very familiar with Excel, and at least 1 market research tool
  • Commercial B2B mindset, eager to learn and develop, and you enjoy “selling” your skills and projects internally.

And of course, you identify yourself with our core values.

You have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business or marketing study
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably at different employers
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, specifically MS Excel, and you know the ins and outs of at least 1 market research tool
  • Fluency in the English language. Dutch is a plus.

In addition, the following aspects are important to us:

  • A background in Market(ing) research
  • Experience with Qualtrics, Intelligence2day, and PowerBI
  • Experience in market, tender or competitor analysis in B2B financial industry markets.
