The global investment community is navigating an increasingly tumultuous landscape, as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) concerns take center stage, reflecting a growing recognition that sustainable practices and responsible corporate behaviour can impact financial performance.

Financial institutions now look beyond maximizing returns by integrating ESG impacts into their investment decision-making but often lack a consistent approach to attributing their funds’ ESG performance - creating a gap in understanding how investment decisions impacted ESG outcomes.

To address this growing need, and to help financial institutions comply with regulatory frameworks such as the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), we have developed an ESG attribution model in collaboration with MN, a leading Dutch fiduciary asset manager.

Join us for this webinar, where Sam Radford - one of the project leads - alongside Investment Performance Consultant Tim Campbell will explain the concept in more detail, covering:

  • How ESG attribution differs to existing attribution approaches
  • Developing effective benchmarks to account for these differences
  • The types of non-financial metrics suitable for ESG attribution - and how they can be measured
  • Analysis from a hypothetical portfolio, and the insights generated when combined with financial metrics
  • Challenges and real-world considerations around data quality, coverage and other risk drivers such as inflation
